Seriously...quietly downtrending markets that slow in thier downtrending...these create technicals that become explosive...so it is tricky trying to pick a bottom...
But if you look at past patterns, particularly with natgas, you will notice this can be a reaccuring theme....
And this is just one way to trade a market...if you were trading futures I would NOT recommend trading in this way, lol! But if you like buying options while volatility is low, in anticipation of increasing volatility...sometimes it pays to purchase them before the breakout, as the breakout could be so explosive that you could not still take advantage of the low volatility...
