NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The Canadian dollar on Wednesday rose to its loftiest level against its U.S. counterpart since November 2007, as oil prices resumed a climb to above $105 a barrel. The U.S. dollar fell as low as 96.64 Canadian cents, its weakest level in more than three years. The greenback lately bought 96.94 Canadian cents, down about 0.2% on the day. "As investors pick on the U.S. dollar, a still-high price of crude oil and well-supported equity prices continues to support the Canadian unit," said Andrew Wilkinson, senior market analyst at Interactive Brokers.
