Dallas Fed's Fisher opposes extending QEII: report (by MarketWatch)

LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Richard Fisher on Tuesday said he opposes extending the Fed's program of asset purchases, known as quantitative easing, beyond June, Dow Jones Newswires reported. Speaking at an event in Frankfurt, Fisher said inflation pressures are building "worldwide." Fisher is a voting member this year of the Fed's rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee. Fisher has previously voiced skepticism of the program and on Tuesday said he would have voted against the program, known as QE II, if he had been a voting member of the FOMC last year, the report said. Fisher last week voted with the panel to continue the program for now. The Fed aims to complete the round of $600 billion in asset purchases in June.
