The reason for high grain prices is because privately owned grain derivative instruments that trade amongst investment banks. These are controlling the futures. Same thing in crude oil. These derivatives are not available at any exchange. Recently the CFTC has been given the authority to regulate them; however, it can not be done. Farmers try to manipulate the market...but they can not. Traditional fundamentals are no longer in the game.
