Actually, I've seen several wooden mashers. None had finish or were oiled.
Typically, yellow pine (y'know the loblolly stuff) was the wood, in all of them.
Wash 'em down, wrinse well, dry them and set them aside for future use.
Teflon?
How they git that stuff to stick to seasoned cast iron?
