Natural gas futures turn lower, trade at $4.01 (by Claudia Assis)
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Natural-gas futures turned lower Thursday, shrugging off a weekly government report that showed an increase below analyst expectations. Natural gas for October delivery (ng11v) recently declined 4 cents, or 1%, to $4.01 per million British thermal units. It traded around $4.05 per million Btus before the Energy Information Administration reported a rise in supplies by 55 billion cubic feet for the week ended Aug. 26. The contract's immediate reaction was to trade higher. Analysts surveyed by Platts expected an increase between 58 billion and 62 billion cubic feet.
