A broad pattern of ridging in the west and troughing over the southeast that set up this week will intensify next week. So next week will see generally above average temperatures in the west and cooler in the east; especially the southeast centered in Tennessee. Texas will be caught more-or-less in the middle with the western 2/3 of the state warmer than average and the eastern 1/3 near normal. New England also will be near to slightly above normal.
In the tropics several slowly developing areas in the eastern tropical atlantic should produce at least one tropical storm toward the end of this week, likely it will be near the leeward islands by friday. Conditions are marginally positive for development over the western Carribean and the Gulf of Mexico this week as well but so far models are not indicating anything but a few weak circulations (that may bring some beneficial rain to the Texas Gulf coast).
