You know...I think this applies to trading as much as it did when I used to tell my Nephews this. They would always be showing ole Unc Wayne how far they could throw a ball or hit a golf ball or whatever. Always though, the ball or whatever would sometimes hit the mark but most times not. Off to the left, right, short, long.
I would ask them...boy, do you know what the difference between an amateur and a pro at anything is? They were more interested in wondering when it was I would not call them by their names. Had one of them say once, My name is Joe...stop calling me boy. Sure thing, boy. There was boy 1, boy 2, and boy 3. After boy 1 got to a certain age I would take to calling him by his given name. Then boy 2 got to be called by his name. Boy 3, once asked...when do I get to graduate from boy to my real name. Whenever I say so, boy. hahaha
I digress...the difference between a pro and an amateur, I would tell them, is consistency. A pro, boy, will hit that target 9 outa every ten tries. He may not throw it the farther-est or the fastest but he'll hit the target almost every time.
Same applies to trading, I believe. The pro will hit more times than not. Don't know how many times I've eaten a win down to nothing over time. Like the casino's... you may make a big score but if you stay there long enough...they'll get their money back.
Anyway...I think that applies here, too.
