I joined this forum July of 1998'. At that time I was seeing the beginning of a major Bull market in Commodities, and I was looking for a Internet forum to discuss my observations with others.

My background is a Cattle Producer, Broker, Manager, Trader, Cattle Consultant, Editor, and assorted appointments. I first started trading as a speculator around 1969’.

Years ago when I was a broker looking to establish business with people evolved with the cattle industry I wrote a news letter called "ContiCattle", because the firm I was associated with was name ContiCommodities, the parent company was Continental Grain. Later when I moved to a wall street firm named Drexel Burnham a changed the name of the publication to "Cattle Talk". I published the weekly letter under that name for several years, and kept it when I was a manager at Dean Witter.

In addition to writing I fed about 1,000 head of my own cattle, and 2,500 customer cattle, and I was featured in an article published by "Farmer Entrepreneur" for the profitable operation using risk management and forward contracting.

I was appointed to the "Agriculture Counsel of Hedging Education (ACHE) of Texas A&M (a group of 5)..

It has been a real pleasure to have lived through the move of the Cattle market in 1979, and see a situation very similar developing.. Now July 2008 I feel we have seen the market turn from the Bull market of 98' to a Bear in all Commodities in General.

Although I like Internet forums for open discussions there is a common forum problem. A forum will attract those that are looking for a platform to get attention that is missing in their daily life.

So if you join a forum discussion it is best to have enough background on the topics to tell the difference between facts and spin.
